Q287 :Is it permissible to use the interest I get on
my bank account to repay the debts of my poor relatives and
friends?
A287 : An increasing number of scholars are now in
agreement that it is permissible to use the interest received from
banks and other financial institutions for a good cause. I must state
however, that this should not be treated as an encouragement to put
one’s money in interest-earning accounts. Perhaps I should explain
that many scholars still maintain that one should not even handle
interest money. However, when we look at the situation where the
interest is paid by the bank, we find that there are four options for a
